MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors) pack high capacitance into a tiny size and are the most common capacitor type — essential for decoupling, filtering, and bypassing in nearly every circuit.
C0G (NP0) has very low capacitance change over temperature/voltage, ideal for timing and filters; X7R offers much higher capacitance in the same size but drops with DC bias and temperature.
High-dielectric MLCCs lose significant effective capacitance as applied DC voltage rises. Check the DC bias curve in the datasheet and allow voltage margin.
Dielectric type and case size must also match to preserve behavior. Even with identical capacitance/voltage, an X7R↔C0G swap can change performance.
